Everything you need to know about Pigeon Khaos

🏌️ Getting Started

What is Pigeon Khaos?
Pigeon Khaos is a playful, cartoony app built to organize golf games, manage groups, and track live scoring without the headache. It replaces scattered messages with one shared place where everyone can see what's happening in real time.
Is Pigeon Khaos free to download?
Yes! Pigeon Khaos is free to download from the Apple App Store. Create an account, follow your golf buddies, and start organizing games right away.
Is Pigeon Khaos available on Android?
Currently, Pigeon Khaos is available on iOS (iPhone and iPad) through the Apple App Store. Android support is planned for future releases. In the meantime, you can use the Pigeon Khaos web app to access many features from any device.
How do I create an account?
Create an account with a simple sign-up. Enter your email, phone, name, country, and state. You begin life as a Duffer. You can also sign up using Google for quick access.
What is a Duffer?
A Duffer is the starting rank when you first create your account. You begin as a Duffer and become a Pigeon when you follow other golfers and they follow you back. Only Pigeons can be invited to games.
What is a Pigeon?
When you follow other golfers and they follow you back, you both become Pigeons. This mutual follow system keeps the app clean and prevents random spam invitations. Only Pigeons can be invited to games.

📋 Invitationals & Events

What is an Invitational?
An Invitational is a golf outing you create as a Sponsor. You select a course, pick a date, set the tee time, and invite your Pigeons to join. It's the core way to organize golf games in Pigeon Khaos.
How do I create an Invitational?
Once you have your flock, create a new golf invitational as the Sponsor. Select the course, pick the date, set the tee time, and assign roles up front. Invited Pigeons receive email and iOS push notifications.
What roles can participants have?
Participants can have several roles: Hackers (confirmed players), Caddies (not playing but attending), Invitees (undecided — awaiting response), and Spectators. Roles update automatically based on RSVP responses.
How do invitations work?
Invited Pigeons receive email and iOS push notifications and can respond with: Attend, Maybe, or Decline. Roles update automatically based on responses. No guessing. No follow-ups. No "did you see my text?"
Can I organize groups and tee times?
Yes! Sponsors can easily organize Hackers into playing groups. Each group gets assigned a tee time, and all players are notified automatically.
What is the Waiting List?
The Waiting List allows you to manage overflow. If your invitational is full, additional players can be placed on the Waiting List automatically and promoted when spots open up.

🎯 Baits & Scoring

What are Baits?
Baits are side bets you can propose during golf games. They make rounds more exciting by adding friendly competition. Create 1v1, 2v2, or unbalanced team games with customizable handicaps and track everything in real-time.
What types of Baits are available?
Pigeon Khaos supports multiple Bait types including Nassau (with front 9, back 9, and overall), Stroke Play (individual or team), Match Play, and more. New game formats are constantly being added.
How does Nassau scoring work?
Nassau is the classic golf betting format. It consists of three separate bets: the front 9, the back 9, and the overall 18 holes. Each segment is scored independently, and you can customize balls (stakes) per hole.
What is Match Play scoring?
Match Play scores each hole individually. The player or team with the lowest net score wins the hole. If scores are tied, the hole is halved. The scoreboard shows who is "up" by how many holes throughout the round.
What is Stroke Play scoring?
Stroke Play counts the total number of strokes over the round. The player or team with the lowest net total score wins. Handicaps are applied hole by hole based on the course difficulty ranking.
Can I customize handicaps per game?
Yes! Each Bait can have its own custom handicap settings. You can use round handicaps, course handicaps, or manually set handicaps for each player. Match Play uses relative handicaps (difference between players).
How do handicaps work in Match Play vs Stroke Play?
In Match Play, relative handicaps are used — the lowest handicap among all players is subtracted from everyone's handicap, so the best player plays at scratch. In Stroke Play, full individual handicaps are applied.
What are Balls per Hole in Nassau?
Balls per hole represent the stakes for each hole. You can set uniform balls (same for every hole) or customize them individually for each of the 18 holes, creating higher-stakes pressure holes.

📊 Live Scoring & Leaderboard

How does live scoring work?
Once play starts, one Pigeon can score for the group. Everyone can follow live scoreboards, standings, and Bait results as they unfold. Scores are updated in real-time across all devices.
Who can enter scores?
Any Hacker in the group can enter scores. Typically one person scores for the entire group, but multiple scorers are supported. Scores update live for everyone watching.
What does the Leaderboard show?
The Leaderboard shows real-time standings for the invitational. It displays gross scores, net scores (with handicap applied), and individual hole-by-hole detail. You can also view Bait results directly from the leaderboard.
Is there a message board during play?
Yes! There's a built-in message board (chat) on the leaderboard. Players and spectators can send messages, trash-talk, and follow the action in real-time with auto-scrolling.
Can spectators and caddies view live scores?
Absolutely! Anyone with access to the invitational — including Spectators and Caddies — can follow the live leaderboard and message board without needing to be on the course.

⚙️ Scoring Flow (How It Works)

How do I start scoring a round?
Navigate to your invitational, tap "Add Score", and enter scores hole by hole. Select the group you're scoring for, and start entering par and each player's strokes per hole. Scores sync live.
How are net scores calculated?
Net scores are calculated by subtracting handicap strokes from gross scores on specific holes. Handicap strokes are distributed based on the course's hole difficulty rating (stroke index). Harder holes get strokes first.
What is a stroke index?
The stroke index (or handicap ranking) for each hole determines which holes receive handicap strokes first. A hole with stroke index 1 is the hardest and gets a stroke first. This is based on the golf course's official rating.
How are teams scored?
Team scores can be calculated as the best ball (lowest score among team members on each hole), combined total, or average, depending on the Bait game type selected.
Can I edit scores after they've been entered?
Yes, scores can be updated at any time during the round while scoring is active. The leaderboard and all Bait results will recalculate automatically using the "Always Recalculate" pattern.
What happens if I enter the wrong score?
Simply go back to the scoring screen and correct the entry. All dependent calculations (net scores, bait results, leaderboard positions) are automatically recalculated in real-time.

👥 Social & Community

How do I follow other golfers?
Browse and search for other Duffers you play golf with. When you follow each other, you both become Pigeons. This mutual follow system is what makes Pigeon Khaos work — it keeps invitations clean and personal.
What is "Building Your Flock"?
Your "flock" is your network of Pigeons — golfers you've mutually followed. The bigger your flock, the more players you can invite to your invitationals. Think of it as your golf buddy list.
Can I block or remove a Pigeon?
Yes, you can unfollow any Pigeon at any time. This reverts both of you back to Duffer status relative to each other, and they can no longer be invited to your games.
